Artist Note: When I was a kid I remember thinking it was odd that a land populated by puppets should have a human (well, David Bowie, anyway) as their king, and thought it would have been neat if at the end of the movie Jareth's true form would be revealed as just another commonplace goblin. Years later I learned that this concept was actually present in early drafts of the screenplay, but had been dropped in later revisions. With my painting I wanted to bring that idea back into the story, and suggest that behind the glam-rock glamour lurks a much less entrancing face.
