CLASSIC ADVENTURE STORIES September 1942
Radical’s most popular title was CLASSIC ADVENTURE STORIES, which graced the newsstands from 1939 up through the publishing house’s demise in 1957. The magazine specialized in retellings of stories from mythology and Arthurian legend, and even occasionally peppered in some historical fiction. Author Ray Harryhausen’s previous contributions to the title had included adaptations of the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts and a version of the Seven Voyages of Sinbad, and in this issue (what was to be Harryhausen’s swan song for the magazine) he retells the story of Perseus and Medusa, strikingly illustrated by Andrade’s cover.
