Bruce Parker "Cut To"

ARTIST BIO - BRUCE PARKER

Summer, 1988. Tom Hanks was BIG, Roger Rabbit had just been framed, and John McClane was crawling through air vents in Nakatomi Plaza. Fred Savage was living his Wonder Years, The Kids in the Hall were breaking sketch comedy, and the Bash Brothers were knocking baseballs (and maybe a few rules) out of the park. Showtime ruled the NBA, and somewhere far from the glitz of LA, in North East England—Bruce Parker was born.

Now an artist, illustrator, and woodworker, Bruce grew up 5,000 miles from Gallery 1988, but US pop culture was already shaping the way he saw the world—and what he wanted to draw. Fueled by a deep love for movies, tv shows and cartoons, he went from devoted fan to regular contributor, exhibiting in many group shows before creating full solo collections with the gallery he once admired from afar.

Bruce’s work is playful, character-driven, and brimming with retro joy. His subjects range from the human to the animal to the utterly inexplicable, all rendered in his distinctively bold, mischievous style. Whether it’s a mash-up of familiar faces or a deep cut from a cult movie, Bruce’s art is a chaotic, euphoric, nostalgia-drenched trip through the icons and oddities of decades past.
