Steve Chesworth "Escape Hatch"

STEVE CHESWORTH - ARTIST BIO
Being a gawky nerd in southern Colorado in the mid-eighties, I took every opportunity to escape from that reality; into films, television, novels and comics, action figures and cartoons. Storytelling of the 80s and 90s really injected me with the creative spark, and I’ve since loved to make things and create narratives.
I eventually took an interest in music and started a punk band, which lasted right up until college, and I played in a few bands here and there afterwards, and continue to enjoy producing music.
I moved to Denver to attend art school and studied animation, illustration and graphic design. After a brief stop in Phoenix, I found myself in San Antonio, basically interning as a junior designer at a T-shirt shop. From there I took a position designing and illustrating for standardized test development. There I met the love of my life and have been happily married ever since.
After a few years we decided to move to Las Vegas, where I took a corporate design job.
There I met some creative partners and started a small production company called Chromatic Phantom. During Covid we wrote and produced a short film; Casey Jones: Live Wire, which included developing and drawing a comic book version and writing and performing the complete soundtrack as our music project “Wolfgrave”. I also developed and drew a comic book for Wolfgrave, which will eventually be included with our first complete album.
I’ve been lucky enough to work with Gallery1988 for the last few years as well, producing poster art and paying tribute to all the escape material I grew up on.
I remain that gawky nerd, but I’m incredibly fortunate to get to share my creative spark with the world.
