KERRI WESSEL - ARTIST STATEMENT

Food Friends and Product Pals is a love letter to childhood and the days spent devouring Saturday morning cartoons; an ode to humming along with the catchy jingles and rattling off the witty slogans of culturally ubiquitous products while jettisoning potentially important and far more relevant information from the memory banks. It’s a collection of the familiar faces that we grew up with, and while some spokes-characters may have changed over the years, the cheerful enthusiasm that these mascots hold for our favorite foods is a big part of the shared, nostalgic experience that I want to capture.
