RYAN PRESTRIDGE - ARTIST STATEMENT Drinks with Friends: The White Knight & The Mother of the Future The White Knight and The Mother of the Future drawings are inspired by two of my favorite films: Die Hard and The Terminator. This time around I wanted to showcase two different types of heroes. Ellis (The White Knight) the perceived hero and Sarah Connor (The Mother of the Future) the reluctant hero. It was fun to bring these characters to life and show them at points in their lives where they change forever. The Terminator is my number one favorite movie, so I felt I really had to give Sarah the reverence she deserved and show her last moment of innocence. Ellis, from Die Hard, is a character in every sense of the word and really helps to break the tension as a bit of comic relief while also providing weight to the reality of the situation with his death. 

Ryan Prestridge Artist Bio Ryan Prestridge is DigiMatte Artist with over 15 years in the visual effects and animation industry. DreamWorks Animation has been his studio home for the past 10 years and has helped him to flourish as an artist. As a mainly digital artist, his desire to create art in a more traditional medium reached a peak during COVID lockdown and the Drinks with Friends Art series was born. Being forced to stay at home with not much more to do other than watch films and have a good drink made him realize that the film characters are a form of friends that will always be there for you and never change. You can go back to them and they will always be there to make you laugh, make you cry or save you from the villains of your life. The drawings and prints, from the Drinks with Friends art series, create a way for the viewer to be able to raise a cup or glass to their favorite film friends as they raise one back.
